Lady Gaga // The Monster Ball Tour

Lady Gaga // The Monster Ball Tour // December 19 2009

I` will never forget the day I` went to go see Lady Gaga at the San Diego Sports Arena. At the time, I` was with my boyfriend, George, & I` had bought us tickets to her show. I` had gotten him hooked on her so we were both excited. When the day came around (it was a Saturday), I` was beyond excited. To add more to the excitement was the fact that I` was going to the concert with George. So, George came over to my house, and we walked to the barber shop because we wanted to cut our hair. Once we had gotten our hair did, we took the trolley (train) to Old Town & from their we took a bus that dropped us off right in front of the Sports Arena. When we stepped out of the bus, it was crazy! I could here the radios stations (Channel 933) playing Gaga songs and getting the crowd pumped up. There was a HUGE line, but George and I had decided that we would get ourselves a motel room near so that we could get ready and spend the night there after the show. After walking a block, we found a motel and we checked in. We almost didn’t get the room because we needed a credit card & George didn’t have. Thankfully, I` still had my Washington Mutual debit card & even though it was maxed out (& the fact that WM had been bankrupt), the girl behind the desk let us get the room. Once we settled into our room we walked out to a nearby submarine eatery and ate. Then we went back to our hotel room to shower but George wanted to go to Target & buy toiletries, he wanted to shave. After we showered, it was time to go to the concert. We walked back to the Sports Arena and we noticed that the line was so long, it was wrapping around the venue 3 times! Insane! So we got in line and it was already 7:20pm. The show started @ 8 and I` was worried we wouldn’t be able to get in. Luckily, around 7:30 the security staff members noticed how many people were still waiting to get in and how little time there was left, so they cut the lines in half & started to let people in! George and I` had made it! The excitement could be felt around as soon as we entered. I` didn’t know what to do. I` then showed my ticket to a staff & he told us where our seats where. Once we were seated, we enjoyed the opening act (Semi Precious Weapons). There were so many people there: young, old, black, white, latin, straight, gay, girls, guys…it was so beautiful! Then the show started…the lights dimmed low. & all of a sudden the stuttering voice of Gaga fills the venue, Dance In The Dark was the first song on the play-set. Through out the show, Gaga sang all of her hits & when the beginnings of Just Dance started, the crowd went wild! During the show, one lucky fan from the concert got a call from Gaga herself. As she was dialing, her phone keys made the beat sounds of Poker Face. The phone rang & rang and when the fan wasn’t answering, Lady Gaga joked:

“I` think she’s busy doing something”

The show ended with Gaga singing her then-current hit, Bad Romance. The only sad part of the show was when Gaga called San Diego, San Jose. I didn’t hear it but I` did hear the crowd “boo”. It was a mistake because later, before she sang Speechless, she apologized & said that her producers had told her she was in San Jose. She then made it up by saying:

“I`m so glad San Diego rhymes with Alejandro”

& Gaga went on to sing Alejandro, replacing the Alejandro lyrics with San Diego. The crowd loved it! That was one of the best nights of my life. I` will forever cherish it. Below are some pictures I` took before, during & after the concert.
